The Regional Equity Monitoring Project currently monitors dozens of city, county, and state institutions, and advocates for the rights of minority groups across Pennsylvania.

REMP’s continued success depends on acquiring additional funding.  Whether you’re an individual or represent an organization, institution, corporation, or foundation, we need your help.  We understand that the current economic climate makes everyone think twice about contributing.  Here’s some of what your dollars will support—making real change in the real world:

  • training monitors to attend and report on activities at dozens of city, county, and state institutions
  • gathering and analyzing the data reported by monitors
  • using the data to support
    • testifying at public hearings
    • distributing action alerts to promote civic participation in local and state government
    • influencing policy at institutions such as unions and school districts
    • advocating for the rights of minority groups
    • promoting transparency and accountability in government, corporations, and institutions
    • informing critical dialog with leaders such as the mayor, county executive, and superintendent of schools
    • monitoring compliance with existing equity laws and standards
  • keeping media informed so that they can report the facts
  • reporting to all stakeholders through publications and presentations
  • staffing a hotline for monitor training and reporting
  • developing and maintaining a public access web site
  • expanding REMP services beyond southwestern Pennsylvania.

In other words, REMP doesn’t just observe, it monitors specific activities and then uses the information to ensure fair and equitable inclusion of all minorities across Pennsylvania.  REMP is about results–in government spending, jobs, health care, education, policing–in virtually every activity that affects your quality of life every day.

Disparities are still facts of life in Pennsylvania.  REMP is here to do something about it!
